Click here to see maps Several Engineering Assistants along with Gas and Water field crews help with the field-location-verification of utility lines. Intergraph and Bentley software are used in the maintenance of the GIS database. Two computer workstations are in daily use for GIS data maintenance and on-demand map production. A TOPCON GTS-226 electronic total station and a handheld Trimble GeoXT GPS aid in field-locating utilities. B&W Digital Orthophoto Quads with a six inch pixel-to-ground resolution are used for overhead digitizing and CAD line overlay for both heads-up display and paper map plots. Two foot, pixel-to-ground resolution QuickBird DigitalGlobe Satellite Panchromatic, three meter Multi-Spectral Satellite Imagery and one meter USDA Farm Service Agency aerial mosaics are used for manual change detection and as small-scale map background imagery. Color aerial photographs are also taken on an as-needed basis for mapping and verification. Data from the State of Kentucky and the Purchase Area Development District, as well as our own GIS data of street, city limits, and zoning district mapping, has been used in the planning of almost every land development project since 1996. City maps and Zoning maps are available at 1” = 1000’ scale with a cut size of 36” x 42” for $10.00 each. 36” x 42” maps with aerial imagery added to the background are $15.00. Plots are made with a 600 DPI inkjet plotter on coated paper. A PDF version of the City map and Zoning map are available for free download. An interactive mapping website is currently being developed which will allow the public to view geographic information about Murray. Some of the information available on the interactive mapping website will be:
