Which cart do I put out?
You may put either cart out until 1 April. It is advised that after you receive you new GFL cart, to initially put out your Republic cart on your next service day, so that it can be emptied before it is picked up for removal.
When will they pick up the old carts?
That is currently being discussed, and nothing has been confirmed as of yet. However, we are expecting that Republic will begin collection of the old blue carts on Monday, March 16th.
What about Recycling carts?
Those customers who are already signed up for recycling will be receiving a new black cart with a yellow lid for recycling. Your service day will remain the same. So please put out your Republic recycling cart on your service day, so that it will be empty for removal, if you old recycling cart is picked up before your service day, you may use your new cart. If you want to begin recycling, please wait to sign up after the changeover is completed on April 1st.
Will my service day change?
Some people’s service day will change; most will not see a change. Currently Republic only runs residential service Monday thru Thursday. GFL will be running residential services Monday thru Friday. Those individuals who will be changed to Friday Service will be receiving a mailer from GFL Environmental.
Will my Sanitation charges be going up?
No, there are no planned changes in rates. Our rates are currently set be City Ordinance. Any changes in rates will need to be approved by the City Council. The current residentials rates have been in effect since 2012 without a rate increase over the past 14 years. With the new contact with GFL, we do not expect that to change anytime in the near future.
I have handicap/walkup service, will that continue?
Yes, a list of those individuals that have walkup service has already been provided to GFL. However, we do advise, since we have a new carrier, if your walkup service is missed on your service day, please let us know first thing the following day as soon as possible.
