January 21st 2026 - Severe Cold Alert

With the impending threat of severe cold temperatures across our service area, the City of Murray would like to remind our Water customers to prepare accordingly. According to the latest weather reports, we will likely experience multiple nights where temperatures will drop into the single digits, and the highs may not get above the freezing mark. There are a few things you can do, that may help reduce the risk of frozen and busted water lines.

  • Make sure your foundation vents are closed.
  • Heat tape or pipe insulation.
  • Disconnect all outside hoses from your home.
  • Leave all your inside faucets dripping, or a small stream flowing.
  • Open cabinet doors under sinks.
  • Keep the heat in your home at a minimum of 50 degrees.
